About Us

A Family Legacy

Generation Sports Cards and More is a family business with a rich history in the sports card hobby. It all started with Jerry Hoss Sr, who loved baseball and Mickey Mantle, and passed on his passion to his son Jerry Jr. For 50 years, they collected, bought, and sold millions of baseball cards, and even opened their own baseball card shop in Marion, Indiana, called Hoss's Baseball Card Bonanza. Although the business closed down in 1993 due to overproduction of cards, the family's love for the hobby remained, and they continued to collect cards.

Our Story

In March of 2020, as the world was introduced to Covid, Jerry Jr. started going through some of his baseball cards to put together a collection album for his nephew, and as he was pulling out more and more cards, he began to reminisce and thoroughly enjoyed going through the old cards. The following year, as the country was coming out of Covid restrictions, Jerry Jr. and Jerry Sr. emerged back into the card hobby and business. They quickly found that things had changed since the 1990s, but they adapted well.

Unfortunately, Jerry Sr. suffered a heart attack and passed away on April 30, 2022. However, his spirit lives on in the lives of the Hoss Family, and his memories are carried with Jerry Jr. to every card show that he does. The monthly Marion Sports Card Show still runs every month, and the tradition carries on.

The name “Generation Sports Cards and More” was developed by Jerry Jr.’s son-in-law, Nick Smith, and the goal of this business is to remember the first generation, have Jerry Jr. and family lead the second generation, and pass it along to the third generation someday. In 2024, Generation Sports Cards and More will be moving to a new level. The Hoss family has accepted an offer to buy out Squeeze Play in Muncie, and they will be busy planning and preparing for the start of Generation Sports Cards and More in January 2024. The grand opening will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Stay tuned for big things to come!
